Sadara Chemical Complex Al Sharqiya, Saudi Arabia Est Value $20bn

Contracted by Jacobs to review and approve (when acceptable)  over 300 technical procedures for global subcontractors to Sadara supplying fabrications, vessels and pipework for this project .

Sadara Chemical Company is developing one of the world’s largest chemicals complexes in Jubail Industrial City in Al Sharqiya, Saudi Arabia. It is located about 100km north-west of the city of Dammam.  The fully integrated complex will consist of 26 chemical manufacturing units and be one of the largest of its kind in the world. It will produce about 1.5 million tons per annum (mtpa) of ethylene and approximately 400,000tpa of propylene.

The complex will also produce a variety of chemicals, such as amines, propylene glycol, polyurethanes, low-density polyethylene, linear low-density polyethylene, elastomers, glycol ethers and propylene oxide. These chemicals are used in the manufacturing of consumer goods, energy, transportation, packaging, electronics and furniture industries. The project is estimated to cost $20bn.

Runcorn TPA estimated value £65-80 million

Contracted to Fichtner to assist in policing and ensuring quality control during the building of Runcorn Thermal power Station (TPS).

This is the largest waste to energy plant of its type being built in Europe with capacity to process 75,000 tons p/year.

Waste to energy – Non-recyclable waste from Greater Manchester and Cheshire processed into solid recovered fuel (SRF) will be used to fuel this plant, much of it being transported by rail. Heat from the incineration process will be recovered and used to generate power and export steam to the nearby Runcorn chemical works plant. Ground stabilisation – Lime stabilisation was used to stabilise soil on this brownfield site.  As the site had a history of chemical manufacturing the lime stabilisation acted to lock in and prevent leaching of contaminants.  The stabilised soil was reused on site under areas of hardstanding where possible. Reuse of materials – Demolition material from existing buildings and external yards was all crushed and reused on site, both for temporary working platforms and under permanent works.

Materials management – The frame for the waste bunker, tipping hall and boiler house required the pouring of more than 30,000m3 of reinforced concrete.  A mix design was developed with a high ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) content, in some cases replacing 80% of the Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC).  This reduced the effects of contaminants in the ground, and also reduced CO2 emissions (associated with production of OPC) by more than 40%.0,000 tonnes of municipal waste.

CE Legislation for Structural Steelwork

Belmont has successfully established over 300 welding procedures for companies all over the UK in Mild steels, Stainless Steels , Nickel alloys and aluminium . With over 85% success rate and using UKAS approved testing facilities for all of the WPQR’s weld procedures  we have assisted greatly in ensuring all of our clients had as smooth a transition as possible to gain the BS EN 1090 accreditation. We have also trained many individuals to act as responsible welding coordinator’s offering continued support as part of our open door package we offer. The Full Package includes quality system assistance, responsible welding coordinator training, welding procedures, welder jo knowledge training and welder ability tests to BS EN 9606.  We also offer on-going assistance and support for our RWC trained persons to assist in any issues they may face with future projects, compiling welding procedure specifications (WPS’s to BS EN ISO 15609 ) .
